Default What Breeding Phase are your Turkeys in?

Turkeys here in se MN are in the third gobblng peak, when the toms are often not with hens all day long, are often looking for hens (which makes them easeir to locate, call and hunt), and when you often see hens travelng by themselves after 8 AM, because they have left the nest and are out feeding.

Put toms to bed at night (or locate them in the morning), and figure out where they will go to feed and strut first thing in the morning. Get between the strut and the roost, and call, decoy or ambush them. If you don't get a bird early, figure out where toms go later in the morning, and get near there to hunt them.

To find out when Peak Gobbling occurs near you Google, and figure out which breeding phase your birds are in - "Peak Gobbling Dates"

Let me know how you do. If you send me a photo, I'll post it.
