First turkeys, Double!
Hey guys, My girlfriend and I went out this morning and tried our hand at turkey hunting. She had never been turkey hunting before and I've hunted several years with no success. I did a lot of scouting on a farm I just acquired permission for and found there were a few turkeys on it. About 6 15 am we located a tom on the roost and slipped within 100 yards downhill and called him in to the decoys. Kellie made a great shot and he went right down. I got the whole hunt on film and when we were out taking pictures where it laid we heard 2 more turkeys gobble about 80 yards up in the woods so we grabbed her tom and ran back to where we were sitting. I traded her the camera for the gun and called in 5 jakes. They gobbled and came right into the decoys and when the jake with the longest looking beard (no such thing as a long beard on a jake haha) came in I dropped him, also on camera. We were both super pumped to get our first turkeys, and have it be a double on film! Just thought I'd share. Her turkey had a 9 3/4 inch beard and about 1" spurs. Mine had a 4" beard. Cant wait to try to fill my other tag soon!
