I shot this turkey yesterday and I noticed the head sure looks like its a hen.

If Its a jake it should have some nubs for spurs and if ya gut it out think a hen will have eggs in it.

It looks like there is to much color in the head to be a hen. Hard to tell by the pic. Are all the feathers in its fan even? Does it have spurs growing?

My cousin shot a bearded hen last year and he got a full body mount of it. I'll try to get some pics of it, but yours looks pretty close to the one he got. What state did you get the bird in?

It does have small nubs on its legs but much smaller than any jakes ive seen before. The tail fan is mostly even and then the end two feathers on both sides are a little shorter. I shot it in minnesota.

it is a jake. you can see the irridesence in the feathers there just isnt enough sun shining on it to "light" it up enough. it is most likly a late hatched bird and thus is the reason it has a bit smaller nubs

Aw come on! All these responses and nobody mentions the breast feathers?!

Toms will have a black edge on their breast feathers, hens have a buff edge.

All the advice posted is correct, but come on guys.
