How to pick a mouth call
There are so many mouth calls out there it is hard to know which one is best. Can anyone explain how to pick a good mouth call that sounds really like a turkey? What makes one call better than another? Any types to avoid? Also, how best to care for a mouth call so that it can be used for more than one season?

Prettiest package wins..... For 4 or 5 bucks, after one season, I'll throw mine out. Or guess you could wash it off real good and store it on top of the baking soda box in your fridge.....

Only way for me is to buy it and put it in my mouth and try it...I have found that I can't use the ones made for people with a smaller mouth...I also don't like ones with real thin latex...
The ones that I usually buy are Quaker Boy or HS Strutt...I've had good luck with the Old Boss Hen... I put mine in my basement fridge between seasons and also soak in mouthwash before and after the season to keep them fresh... |
I use HS and Quaker Boy.To start most find it a little easier to learn using a single or twin reed.More reeds generally have more rasp but it doesn't seem to make much difference to the birds.
