Yes Colorado states its Fall methods of take as.... Rifles and handguns can be muzzle loading, centerfire or rimfire, and bullets must be a min. 38 grains with manufactures rating of at least 110 ft. pounds at 100 yards from muzzle. Except in units 91,92,96, and 951.

Never killed a turkey with a shotgun... and i've killed several.. Prefer my Marlin 982vs in .22 Magnum. Stoked with Winchester Supreme 34gr. Hp's or Federal 50gr. Hp's it is in my opinion much more fun than slinging shot with a shotgun. Here's my 09 bird taken with a 50gr. HP and this years bird was taken with a 34gr Winchester Supreme. Most shots were under 40yds.

IMO it would defeat the purpose of turkey hunting. The thing that makes it so special is the fact you have to call them in to the close ranges & make a good clean shot with shotgun or bow. It makes you earn it... with a rifle there is no work/effort put into it.
just my opinion...
