You guys should show us pics of the calls you made - I'm hoping to try making one some day... I would love a good mentor!

I can't think of anything better than calling in a gobbler on a call that I made...

Some calls i made that are my favorite. I love my zebrawood. Here are my 3 favorite: titanium, slate, and glass. Bloodwood is a close second. The turkey track is an actual brand from an iron.

those calls look extremly nice cant imagine how they sound. can yal tell how to make'm?

I'm kinda partial to glass, since I mostly hunt Rios. My current fave slate is Screaming Thunder Glass from Howard's Customs Calls in Franskville, WI

I get the best, and most consistent, sound from slate. My two favorite slate calls are......
• Hunter Specialties® Ring Zone® Slate w/a cross cut hickory striker
• Lynch® 'Jet-Slate'

My favorite is The Rocky Top Game Calls, Glass. It sounds great. But for those who Don't Live in TN. The "Glass Queen" by Knight&Hale. Sounds pretty good. Super loud too. Good for windy days.

Scott Ashburn slate call is my favorite The one on the right.

i have never made my own... wish I were that talented
I did just pick up the new Knight & Hale White Liar... like it so far...

I just bought a HS strut slate call, the ring zone or what ever it is. Its my first friction call trying to learn. This is my first year turkey hunting.

tjshunter13 04-14-2011 04:48 AM

I def. recommend the freak frictionite, by primos... It is one of the sweetest sounding slate calls I have ever heard... I also have one handmade pot call my uncle made for me, and I have a HS Strut ring zone, a HS Strut Aluminator, and a Primos Slate/Glass combo... I am not any good with a mouth call, so I rely on slates and box calls... I do most of my calling with slates though
