Shotgun Pattern

1 Attachment(s)
I am new to turkey hunting (Only 3 years, first year was bow only, last year and this year with bow and shotgun). Decided this year I would try to really pattern my shotgun and this is my setup and a pic of my best group (between 5 different types of ammo,an expensive day at the range).

Mossberg 835
Indian Creek Choke Tube
Hevi-Shot 3.5" #6 2.25oz
180 hits inside 8" circle @ 40 yards (measured by stepping off and Nikon 440 rangefinder)
Whole Target measures 8 3/8" squared, there are total 212 hits
Using only a front sight bead, plan on getting a new sight eventually

I don' know exactly what would be considered a good group.

I know the target says 10", but this was before I measured it with a ruler

Thats a dead turkey. You need atleast 100 pellets evenly distributed in a 10'' circle at 40 yards. Thats the "ideal" turkey shotgun pattern.

That's a very nice pellet count inside 10 inches with 6's. No bird is gonna survive that at 40 yards.

good pattern , you got it bud...

there is nothing left for you to do but call a bird in and make sure the bead is on him cause the gun/load will take it from there

Thats a dead bird out to 60 yds with Hevi-Shot.

Nice pattern.
It can get real expensive in a hurry.

Did you try any Hevi Shot Magnum Blend?

I have a 535 and these gave me the best #s. I am going to try some # 7s next year.
