Can't make up my mind
I know that this subject has been covered many times hereon the forum but I really need some information. I was checking the sights on my Win Sx3 and noticed that seeing the front Tru-Glo fiber optic sight was a challenge for me. Would you all consider installing a shotgun scope. I'm looking at the leupold and the nikon. So, what do you guys think. Who on here uses a scope on their turkey gun?
God Bless, Bigtimer |
I am not a fan of using a scope...if you have to make a quick shot, they can be a hindrance. My personal preference is a single fiber optic strip on the end of the shotgun...just what I like.

I'm in the same boat as Bible_man. Turkey hunting isn't a long range sport. It seems to me a scope would make it tougher to make a moving or flying shot. I see no need for a scope on a turkey gun.

I agree, also don't prefer scopes. How big is the fiber in the sight? My 1300 came with fiberoptic sights but were on the thin side, not as bright as aftermarket sights. Maybe you could try another sight.
Good luck |
I got the TruGlo Gobble Dot sight - not a fan of scopes either. I love it! You can adjust the rear sight on it, until you find your sweet spot!

Check out the lightpipe sights by HiViz. They might just help you. It's a larger fiber-optic bead that fits on the rib of your gun.
It'll keep your gun with a low profile, and allow for fast target acquisition. |
The comb on my x3 is higher than my 870 or my 835 wich requires me to either choke back or constantly reposition my head on my gun... my advise is to get something that stands up off the barrel like tru glos gobbler stopper or some other u shaped fiber rifle sight and sight in with it

What do you all think about this sight:
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=3...TGUN_SIGHT_SET I've tried this one that Kim uses: http://www.cabelas.com/sights-truglo...dot-8482.shtml This one: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shoot...53BBRprd742447 And finally this one: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shoot...3Bcat105574680 Time is closing in, what do you all think about the sight at the top of this page???????? Browing also makes a sight that will fit the Winchester Super X 3 like mine but I can't find the link right now. I know that ya'll are going to say that I need glasses and I have a pair but I sweat so badly that I spend more time cleaning them I can't concentrate on the hunt. They fog badly also. The scope may be my only option. |
