Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I'd prefer no bigger than 6's and have considered going to 7's, but have plenty of shells left to last several seasons. I like having more pellets flying at that face!

The Remington wingmaster is the hevi shot version of their loads.

If you plan on Hevishot then look into a .665-.670 as you should be in the 200 range at 40...

I was very skeptical about spending 3 or 4 bucks per shell, but after reading about forum members' results I decided to drop the cash and give it a whirl. I bought an Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike .660" choke tube and some 3" #7 Hevi-13. I shot a measured 40 and 50 yard target with lead, and then with the Hevi's. My jaw literally dropped when I saw my 50 yard pattern. It will blow your mind how tight the patterns are. Remember, #7 Hevi has the same thump as #5 lead.

Here are my 40 and 50 yard patterns. My sight needed bumped over a bit and you can see that it would have made the pattern much denser if I'd move the shot a little to the right. You'll notice I was counting in a 9 1/2" circle instead of a 10".
40y 195 hits in 9 1/2" 18 in head/neck

50y 104 hits in 9 1/2" 12 in head/neck

Hevi is giving $5 rebates per box of Hevi-13 (limit 4) right now. Here is a link to the rebate form.

I have a 12 ga 870 pump w/20" barrel Xfull Rem turkey choke, 3" max shells. I tried heavy shot and it didn't pattern as well for me as Federal #5 turkey loads. So I'll stick with Federal.

That is because of the choke you used when testing it. Not all chokes work with Hevi shot. You have short tapper and long tapper and the long tapper are the most expencive and form shot properly for tighter more dence patterns...

Hevi Shot's well worth the money. Youll see a HUGE differnece in pattern density compared to those Supremes. Or atleast i did.
