Ever lost a bird with #7 hevi shot???

just curious if anybody ever shot at a turkey at say 45-50 yards and had the bird just fly off???

I shot my limit last year using Hevi 13 blend #5,6,7 and they worked great! I have never used just a #7 for turkey hunting.

Had a good year last year and killed 3 with the Hevi 13 7's but none of em over 40 yds. I've shot a few turkeys in my 40 plus years of turkey hunting and I was impressed. The stuff hits " hard".

No, but I sure have had quite a few fall over dead.

I've never used 7's before, but have killed quite a few with 6's and some at long range. I've always been a little Leary of going that small. Last year I shot hevi 13 no 5's and they hit hard! No problem there if I need the range. Killed one at about 38 yards with them.

No sir. Been using straight 7's in my SP-10 now for 2 seasons. They all took a dirt nap. I'm very impressed with pattern density and sustained energy..even out to 50 yds.

I had one get away last year, but I won't blame it on the shell! It was the same morning that I had knocked the sight off my shotgun. It was a clean miss.

The ones that did catch the #7's didn't know what hit them. Remember, Hevi's have as much knockdown as lead shot 2 sizes larger. Would you be worried about taking a bird at 50 yards with a tight pattern of lead 5's???

the only reason a bird would fly off at that distance is if you missed him

public or private bird? Of course the public ones are tougher to knock down so it would depend.........

superstrutter 02-28-2011 04:03 PM

Oh, I know you just didn't.:happy0157: Of course we know public birds are much tougher than those sissy private ones. Those 7's will bounce right off of them.
