What shotgun would you recommend for a female looking to turkey hunt?

My 2 young boys Turkey hunt with a Mossberg Model 500 Bantam. It has a 3" chamber, adjustable fiber optic sights, adjustable length of pull, and covered in an awesome APG Camo finish. I added a Vero Vellini neoprene sling. I also installed an HS Strut Undertaker tube. After much testing, it performs awesome at 40 yards. It likes the Remington Wingmaster HD #6's. My 12 year old son killed his first Gobbler this year, it was awesome. I think that this rig would be perfect for you. Unless you are aware of your recoil tolerance do not get a 12ga. You will be miserable.

My wife doesn't hunt much, but when she does, she likes my son's 20 gauge. I'm pretty sure my 12 gauge would be less than fun for her.

Agreed...20 gauge would be a good gun to start.

Any shot gun, just need a good mono-pole.

20ga semi auto. 1100 or 1187 would be my choice. They hardly kick at all and nothing to remember for rechambering another round.

I know I talk Mossberg up quite on these forums, but I tried out their SA-20 last winter and I have to say I was impressed. It shoots just as smooth as a friend of mine's 20 ga browning silver and it's half the price. I will say it is a bit light but does a 20 gauge really kick that hard?

The 20 is all I will ever hunt with now. Pattern it and set it up the best you can and the rest is history....

Shotgun for a female turkey hunter

Remington 12 ga. I am five ft. nothing petite and have always used this set up for me, even started out using 3 1/2 inch mag shells.

I have hunted for many years and for all but last year I shot only once a year to kill my turkey, other than patterning before season.
Besides the only time I think about recoil is during patterning not the hunt.
I think most women can handle a 12 ga. but I don't recommend using 3 1/2 inch mag shells in a 12 ga. for a woman.
My set up can kill beyond 40 yards but most of my shots are 30 or under.
