Some new calls I turned
I turned a few calls in the past week or so. The oak are a Christmas gift a friend of mine wants for his kids. I loved the way the oak looks- came from an old barn beam. Nice and buggy looking. The Others are a maple and the last two are the 1270y/o oak I have. To be honest the last two are experiments and I just loved the grain in the wood and wanted to show it. The thing I love most about the turning I am doing is seeing what is inside that wood. Grain and character we would NEVER have seen.....Thanks to my friend Ed for pointing me this way and to dad for loving carving my whole life. I have always thought it would be interesting, but I have little patients for carving. The lathe makes things quick, but I have found some patients for some detail too LOL. Guess that is why I love turkeys so much I can't sit very long in one spot...so when I run and gun...I can do that!!! Thanks for looking!
