Taking your son/daughter next spring?
 

How many of you are planning on taking your son or daughter turkey hunting next spring for the first time? My son is completing his hunter safety course the end of this month and if he passes, I promised him a 20 gauge youth model pump shotgun (either Mossberg Bantam or 870 Youth) for Christmas ' 03. He head to the spring woods with me next April for the first time. I' m really looking forward to sharing my love for turkey hunting with my oldest son.

If he' s like my son Kit,,he' ll absolutely love it..Most of my turkey huntin I do with a bow these days & my boy went with me several times this past Spring..Heard & saw some birds but never got a shot while he was in the blind with me..He & I did have a WILD time tho..Hope you both have some good luck next Spring..

spring turkey was the first thing i actually got to " hunt" with my dad also..i hunted all my life but never actually killed anything...man that day was great...good luck with your son...if hes going to be any kind of hunter he will love spring gobbler...tell him good luck passing his test also..

i might , but it all depends on them.....the one i turned into a vegatarian, lol.....so i know she wont go.....she doesnt care for the hunting life at all, the other , if she' s good and wants to go , then i might......i hope so....

I plan on taking my Dad for the first time next year :D should be fun!

This fall will be my sons first turkey hunt where he' ll be able to shoot.I been waitin 12 yrs for that day to come.

I plan on taking my son next Spring for his first hunt. He will be turning 6 March 4th, and our season usually opens around the 20th of March. I wanted to take him this season but he just couldnt keep up, on those long walks and I was never really able to pinpoint any of those easy birds to set up on. I sure hope he loves it as much as I do. he runs around the house now making hen calls, it drives his Mom nuts.

No doubt about it,foolin a big longbeard in close is a thrill to anyone of us who are on board here,but watchin your own son/daughter do it for the first time is an experience you' ll never forget!I consider myself fortunate that I my dad and i spent many mornings together foolin gobblers!This last year my middle son killed his first gobbler and I couldn' t of been any prouder by the way he handled himself afield!Sharin gobblin fever with family and friends no doubt in my mind draws friendships closer together kin or not!I guide father and son hunters every year and watching the comradre they share with one another afield is something to be treasured and lasts a lifetime!With all that goes on round about us in this world we live in nowadays teachin a kid to hunt teaches them principles that builds a positive future,plus its fun to experience the outdoors!Here' s a big thumbs up to you guys that sacrifice your own time and share it with your kids!!!![8D];)

In my opening post, I failed to mention that my son just turned 10. We' re studying the hunter safety book together so he' ll be ready when the class starts at the end of this month. So far, he is doing very well. I have no doubt he' ll be able to do it. I' ve been teaching him gun safety since he was in diapers.

I' m glad to see you guys as excited as I am. I will be hunting for my fourth year and have yet to harvest a turkey. I may not next year either, but if it means getting one for my son and sacrificing my own....so be it.
