Right now I have an elderly 2X Widefield on my Moss-835, but I' ve been having problems with the eye relief, so I am planning on a switch to a Red Dot unit before the 2004 turkey expeditions. ;)

RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
Another 2X Simmons ProDiamond, 2 yrs. now & very pleased with it. Mounted high enough that I can see under it to use the TruGlo sights still on the vent rib, should I ever feel the need.

RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
I admit that fiber optic sights are much quicker, and that your vision doesn' t seem to be restricted at times as sometimes with using a scope. But my problem was that my gun never shot right on, hence the scope route!! I might be wrong in saying this because I don' t use fiber optic sights, but I feel that you have a greater " range of adjustment" when using a scope compared with just using fiber optic sights!! Also a scope, when mounted properly, isn' t as likely to shift under recoil as some rib mounted fiber optic sights might be. This is just a thought on my part.
Ken, after scoping my turkey gun, I haven' t missed a shot at a gobbler yet. I did miss twice when just usung the front bead sight that came with that gun before I scoped it though. |
RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
I' ve had my scope on my turkey gun for 10 seasons now and I can' t say that it has caused me to miss a turkey yet. I missed a couple birds several years back but I can' t lay the blame on the scope, only the hunter!

RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
i have nothing...used to have a fiber optic sight, but that was lost when the barrel blew up, had to get a new one and just never got around to putting a new one on, but i will eventually..........

RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
I have a scope on one of my guns but am worried that I wont be able to pick up a gobbler as fast as I could with open sights...
|
RE: Scopes,Pro-points, and Luminated sights ?
Ken, you have to keep both eye' s open and sort of look over the scope untill the bird comes into range. Once in range, look through the scope until a shot opertunity comes along!! Bang, it' s over!!;)
