Nitro Ammo & Rhino Choke.. Still the best.
Finally at the bottom of the box I bought 5-6 years ago (much to the detriment of many Toms). Are they still considered the best?? Given the $$ I spent hunting, this ammo was probably the single best expense and easily gave me 15 yards over factory lead shot.
Just wondering if in the last 6 years the hive mind, collective brain trust here still considers them the best?? Anyone??? Thanks, Rob |
No way!!! Hevi 13 has been proven as the best of the best these days. Also, it seems that their new Magnum Bland is quickly gaing a HUGE fanclub as well. You're going to be shocked when you test this ammo side by side with those old Nitros... the extra hitting power of the Hevi 13 is simply amazing!

Save your money - call them closer than 30 yards - and you don't need high priced ammo - nor 3.5 inch -

Thxs but, rather go home with 40-50 yard bird than save $3.00 on a shotshell As for my 2 cents? I still think that Nitros are the best. I've had some Mag Blends put 180 pellets inside 10 inches at 40 yards but Nitros are generally on up in the 240 range. |
I get the best patterns out of my 870 Super Mag with a jelly head choke and Rem. Wingmaster HD 3.5" # 6's. At 40 yards, I can get a consistent 220 plus hits in a 9" circle. Pretty devastating.

I did switch off to some Hevi 13, 2.25 oz of #6 that i bought last year. They do have a great pattern and i've taken 2 birds this season with them. They still don't pattern in my 835 as well as the Nitros but they are getting closer. We could use some comp to get the prices down any way. my 2 cents

Tom down at 60yds in narrow wooded lane w/ my basic Moss 500 w/xx full Moss choke, and Nitro's 4x5x7.5 load. Need I say anymore!!!!!!

The Rhino/Nitro combo for me as well!!!

That's a nice bird! You have something on your face though.

For me, ive never had a single shell pattern anywhere NEAR as good as Nitro 4x5x7's with a Jellyhead choke in my 835. Though they are pricey, i highly doubt any other shell can out do what im shooting now.

Nitro's are still at the top of the food chain for turkey ammo. Other manufacturers have closed the gap, but still can't match the density or downrange energy of Nitro's.

Nitro's are #1 in my book too!!!! :)

I shoot a Rem. 870 Express and I use the Rhino/ Nitro 3x5x7 3 inch shells, that is the best set up I have found yet.
Expensive yes BUT I have never missed with them and I only shoot one shell a year Hence the one shot one kill. I heard a guy shoot 4 times a few weeks ago I say pattern your gun, slow down take your time and if you cant do that their is always another turkey. |
306 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards tells me to keep using the Nitros. I shot my last shell this Spring as well. Time to re-order. :)
I use them in a Mossberg 835 with a .690 Primos Jellyhead choke. I can kill them every time at 60 but have never shot at one from that distance. |
