I've had that happen twice. The first time it surprised me so much, that I didn't shoot. It was so close (15 yards out of nowhere) I didn't have time to think whether I should or not. In the end I thought, well he is just trying to make a live out here and didn't. The second time it happened 3-4 years later a big old dog cam in. Bet he was close to 45 lbs. but at 35 yards I just wasn't sure I could cleanly make him take a dirt nap so I passed.
