New gun Mossberg 535 pattern

Just got my new Mossberg 535 22 inch barrel camo stock with accuchoke xx. Put a red dot tru glow 1x scope on it. nice looking set up....anyways I went to shoot it today and would like to know your guys input on my patterns. I may be able to post some pics later once I put them onto the computer....but for now...

I shot once at 20 and once at 30 yards....about all i could handle with injured tendons in my shoulder....ouchie.

Shells Remington Premier high velocity magnums
12 gauge 3inch 1300 fps 1 3/4 oz 5 shot

20 yards I had 60 in the head/neck area and another 80 or 90 on my HS Strut paper target.

30 yards had 40 in neck/head are and another 105-115 on paper

Should I be putting more in the paper than this? I plan on shooting again this week trying to strecth it out to 40 yards.

U got more then enough pellets in kill zone to take out any turkey at those distances!!
Now if u want to see where the rest of u pellets r going get a bigger peice of paper,or peice of plywood and put ur turkey target on it.That will show u where ur main cluster of pellets r hitting not just the spray of the pellets.and then dial in ur red dot to bring that main cluster into ur bullseye ;)

Those are certainly turkey killing patterns at those ranges. You might even try patterning at 40 yd. I suspect you still may have a good pattern. My gold standard for a turkey killing pattern is 20 hits in the head/neck. It only takes one.

I recommend trying a Primos Jellyhead with Hevi-13 3.5" 2.25 oz. #6 loads. You would be impressed at the results even out to 50 yards.

I broke down and bought Hevi-13 loads for my new 535. I'm shooting the 3" 7's out of an Indian Creek choke tube and the results are phenomenal!

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the results are more from the shells than the choke tube. It doesn't shoot lead all that well, but the Hevi's are awesome.

I think Environ-Metal (makers of the Hevi-Shot) is still giving $5 rebates on boxes of shells purchased until May. You can find the coupon on the Hevi-Shot website if you're interested. Just remember, your choke has to be rated for 'heavier than lead' to use those loads.
