Turkeys vs. Incoming weather

This question may have been answered before. However, allow me ask it again. How do turkeys react to bad incoming weather. I was out this morning and saw zip. The other hunters I spoke with had the same experience. It was overcast with the wind picking up pretty steady. Some ugly weather was clearly coming in soon. Do the gobblers just hunker down, or does it not bother them much?

When their is bad weather moving in they head for the cedars to block the wind and shelter themselves from the rain or snow.

Wind/hearing

In addition to staying dry, the wind makes hearing difficult for the turkey, so it's less safe for them. Typically, a lot of wind will keep them in the trees.

The easiest time to kill turkeys is during a thunder storm or during steady rain in a open green field.

The birds don't like the bad weather and either do I. I use those days to sleep in and re-charge the batteries for when the weather breaks. I like to enjoy my times in the woods, it's not an endurance test to see how long you can stay wet and be miserable.

Now if ur talking sunami kinda weather,Where the rains blowing sideways etc.Stay in bed!!!LOL.
i have killed many gobblers in a steady rain,Picked birds up after laying them over, they would be soaking wet! They still come in gobbling!(plus if hunting public land, less hunters in woods!:s4:)
But if theres wind with the rain, wait it out or just save your energy for another day.
Key is find in ur area where they roost when the bad weather is coming.Usually its lower in the terrain u hunt.In pines or trees with the most foliage.Try to setup above them if hunting area with birds roosting down in thickets where terrain is lower,Get within 100yrds if possible.
Hope this helps....
