Which gun should I use?
Hey im planing on going turkey hunting this fall and spring, and i was wondering. Which should i use: A .22 rifle or a .20 gauge shotgun. A shotgun i would have to bring it in close but a 22 i could shoot it farther away. Anyone have any advice?

Some states don't allow you to use a rifle to hunt turkeys.
Just not sporting..................... IMO |
Yeah thats true ill have to check and see

Definately not the .22. A rifle is illegal in just about every state. The best part of turkey hunting is working that gobbler into shotgun range. Any rifle would take the fun out of that. I love to see and hear a strutting gobbler coming to my calls at close range, that is in the Spring of course. We have no Fall season here. If I were to ever use a rifle, which I won't, I would go with something a little larger than a .22. Go with the 20 ga.

Thanks for the info

Gun
If you are going to eat the bird then I would use a .22 unless you are a real good shot with the 20 gauge and can continually hit head shots. If your not going to eat it then I would use the 20 gauge or even a 410.

A rifle is illegal in most every state, with an XF turkey choke, you should be able to kill um at 35,40 yards.

in md you can use a rifle in the fall but only a bow or shotgun in the spring
with a good choke and some good shells that 20g will outshot some 12g |
