Practice shooting from different positions -right and left handed.

You can STILL get a gobbler even if you aren' t out at the break of day--oversleeping is NOT a disaster!

Expect the UNEXPECTED!

Always hunt hard!

NEVER give up!

Relearned that Turkeys are quite unpredictable!

The four gobblers who ran right past me from behind and ignored my decoys taught me more " stuff" doesn' t always help.[:@]

The guy on the neighbors property who shot before shooting hours showed me we still have a way to go on ethics.

The Eastern I killed opening day reaffirmed that gobblers dont always gobble and that in strut they can take 20 minutes to move 10 feet.:D

The Rios I hunted taught me we can make a lot of funny noises when we call because they do too.

Most of all, I was reminded why this is a great sport, why we need to do all we can to expand habitat and bird populations, and why we need to help kids discover the joy of a spring morning in the woods, Lunch after the hunt with morels and friends, and seeing who got the most ticks!

Success is not found in killing a bird, but in the simple pleasure of watching Turkeys being Turkeys. I never grow tired of that.
