Turkey Contest Group Success Rates

Here' s another way to look at the contest -- hunter-success rates.

Group 1: 50%
Group 2: 50%
Group 3: 40%
Group 4: 50%
Group 5: 50%
Group 6: 30%
Group 7: 60%
Group 8: 60%
Group 9: 20%
Group 10: 40%
Group 11: 55%
Group 12: 73%

And, no, it' s not because I' m in Group 12.... well, maybe ;)

Or you could say who killed the most birds then 7 and 8 would have 17 a piece. Of course that wouldn' t be because I am in group 7. :)

RE: Turkey Contest Group Success Rates

Well, Team Eleven is clearly going to be the champions by the end of the spring 2003 turkey season, according to the rules as they were established before the event, and I want my prize!!!

I don' t think it is particularly fair to look at the number of birds taken as any indicator, since in some states you can only take one or two birds, in others as many as five. And then there' s guys like me who get to do a little traveling and take a few birds in different states where most guys don' t get that chance.

I think MassHntr' s analysis is more important for what is says about the success rate of the hunters who were on teams. 10 in 12 teams had a success rate of better than 30%. From what I have read, hunter success (at least in Minnesota) runs at about 33%. That means the hunters on the teams are above average!!! (We knew that, right??)

I don' t know about the composition of the other Teams, but I know that one of the guys on Team Eleven has NEVER posted anything on this site and another has posted once, to join the contest. So the percentage may be skewed due to lack of information/participation, anyway.

But I do want to say thanks to kshunter for the contest idea. It has been fun to " cheer" other hunters on and read of their success. The turkey contest kept me coming back to the site for updates and to see how " my team" was doing!! It' s been fun!!
