Much needed advice for one last hoorah!

Well after a week of putting up with henned up gobblers this morning me and my buddy decided to spook the birds off the roost. Mission Accomplished! But the only problem was that for the remainder of the day was spent with me my buddy and 2 very lonely hens. We never heard a single gobble all day and the tom never returned for his girls. We spooked about 5 birds but never got to see where the gobbler went. Here is what i need advice on. I have to climb a pretty much straight up and down hill in the morning to get to my spot which is on top. On top its flat and looks like turkey heaven with alot of sign. I have been hunting on top of this ridge all season with no luck. The birds roost on a little flat right before you get to the top. Do you guys think i should get below them and set up under that flat that theyre roosting on or what? What would you guys do in this situation? This may be my last chance to get my first bird this season. Thanks for listening!

I' ve heard that getting above them makes it easier to call--since most hunters say that it is easier to call them uphill--can you around them and then get above them?

Sounds like it' s kind of a " crap shoot" ...and considering turkey behavior--they usually do something " different" than what you would expect. If you can' t get to the top...set up just below them and hope they come to take a peek at you (of course you' ll be ready;)[>:]

Best of luck to you!!:)

Yea i think im gonna have to set up below them this time. It' s possible to get above them. See i normally head straight up the hill from my uncle' s house untill i get on top then i will work my way to the right to get above where they roost. And last time i hit the trail at an angle to bust up the birds. But for some reason now they wont come up on top so i think my best bet may be to set up about 50 yards below that little knoll theyre on and see what happens. I appreciate your response to this. tryin to get my best gameplan for my last time out. ( fingers crossed).
