finding the right choke tube
Is there anyway to find a good choke tube without spending lots of money testing several?

RE: finding the right choke tube
The way I looked at it when I bought mine was, 'BUY ONE, ANY OF THEM, TEST DIFFERENT BRANDS AND SIZES OF LOADS, AND THE BEST RANGE THAT YOU GET WITH THAT ONE TUBE,JUST DON'T SHOOT ANY FARTHER THAN THAT.'
Kind of simple, I know, But, is spending an EXTRA 50$ for 5 yds. really worth it? Not to me. BTW I bought an H.S. UNDERTAKER |
RE: finding the right choke tube
I agree with Gasser. Unless you have unlimited resouces, just buy 1 good quality tube then experiment with loads. Fortunately for me, it only took two different loads to find the one I was pleased with.

RE: finding the right choke tube
i would but a ported tube. it will take some of the kick out of the shot. be picky when you buy, there are alot out there that are solid.

RE: finding the right choke tube
.655 ported. its the size that matters not so much the brand. 0.655
is a highly recomened by some pro turkey hunters i know. Some hunting supply stores will break up their boxes of shells and sell you a mixture of shells so you can test your guns pattern. I got the best from #6s . I under stand that they might not go through brush as well as bigger shot so i might go for #5s. |
RE: finding the right choke tube
I called Chuck Boswell at Kick's and he was extremely helpful! Once you get a tube from them if you are not happy with the pattern, they will work with you to get the right size. I am going with the .660 to shoot Winchester Supreme High Velocity 3" #5's. That was Chuck's suggestion for my Benelli SBE.
