Owling
My attempts at trying to locate turkeys on the roost owling sounds more like an owl with a cockle burr in his throat. What are some of the better owling/locator calls available?

RE: Owling
Keep practicing timber. Put your tongue on the side of your bottom lip like you have a big dip in. This will help the sound. Start off calling real soft and get a good sound, then gradually get louder. Start off with just one hoot. Barred owls hoot just onenote at times. It's just a lot louder thana Great Horned Owl.Your own voice will be louder than any produced owl call and you can control the volume better than you can with a call. You don't have to sound perfect to get a shock gobble. You should be able to give just one or two hoots to get responses from real owls. Then let them do the work for you.

RE: Owling
like said you only need 1 or 2 hoots to get em goin. besides if your doin all that "who cooks for you" crap half the time you couldnt even hear the gobler anyway.
I only use one main cadence. "ah hooooo" |
