would setting up and calling in a roosting area be the smart thing to do during the middle of the day?

If you wait long enough. If you plan to sit until dusk...it would be a smart thing. If you only have a few hours to hunt, I would find it more beneficial to set up in a strut zone in a field the turkeys travel on their jouney back to the roosting trees.

If you know a gobbler heard you/gobbled back earlier but got led off by hens going back later is as close to a sure thing as you can get.He will almost certainly come back to the area.Just be sure you're set up before you start calling again.There's a good chance he got there before you.
