Default 870 patterns

Just wondering what everyones best patterns have come from (Choke/Shells) in a Rem. 870?
I have been experimenting with shells with a tru-glo tube. Not having the best luck but I blame it on the tube.

I bought a Jellyhead, the best patterns so far have been with 3" Remington 2 oz #6 shot. I tried the Winchester high velocity shells with 1 3/4 oz of #5 shot (the ones they sell at Wal-mart)and it was absolutely horrible through both the jellyhead and the remington chokes. I also tried Remington and Kent shells with 2 oz #5 shot but they were just ok, the patterns went to heck after 30 yards. The next time I can get to Bass Pro Shop I'm going to get the Hevi-13 with 2oz #6, a lot of people claim awesome patterns with this combo.

I am shooting 3 1/2 in shells. I have had the best luck so far with the Hevi 13 #4. Thinking about buying a Rhino choke tube but really don't want to spend the money right now.

Check out this pattern:

This was in a 20 year old 870 with a Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike choke and heavishot #6 3" mag w/2 oz of shot. My 870 will put 151 hits in a 10 " circle now at 40 yards, not too shabby. Not sure how expensive the Rhino choke is but you can pick up a IC choke for $62 from mid south shooters supply:

http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=001050002

I think they are on back-order now but this is the cheapest place I could find them on the net.

If you get the Hevi-13 3.5" 2.25oz #6's I bet your patterns will improve a whole lot.
