As a very old deer hunter I found out why you guys love turkey hunting.I called in my first turkey and man was that fun.I couldn't believe it really worked.Turned out just to be a jake but he was the boss of the three that came out.What a day,I'm hooked.

Lol! Awesome! I love it when a new guy gets the addiction. Don't worry though, Arrowmaster runs a support group for us turkey hunting junkies in the off season.

I'm sorry for you. It's a terrible addiction. I tell people not to try it, to take up golf instead. But they don't listen and they become like the rest of us.

The same happened to me this year Chuck. Where the heck is Defuniak springs, it's not even on the map? Isn't that somewhere north of Winterhaven neer the Green Swamp? I'm over in Titusville and I was hunting Buck Lake WMA this weekend.

I here ya..
Last year I boughta Primo The Freak..I went to a spot on a trail..gave 3 yelps and a jake came running...I was shocked.

So during Spring goobler last year I took out my Freak and called in an 18 pounder in which I killed..

I began to think it was luck..until I called in one yesterday with the Freak..It's not luck..and like you said..I'm addicted too..AND each hunt you seem to learn more..I should have set out a decoy..I was planning on hunting deep into a swamp but the turkey got me hunting the edge of a clearing..[&o]a decoy in my backpack would have put meat on the table..instead a hurried shot left me bummed out.

Well, I didn't waste my time calling in a jake for my first bird:D. Welcome to the club. You are now hooked for life. Just wait til you call in that first strutting longbeard, then you will really be hooked. I've got bad news for you, your addiction will only get worse.

Congratulations. Don't worry though, the addiction only gets worse with every season you hunt. Pretty soon you'll start thinking about next turkey hunting season as soon as gun deer season closes...or maybe the day you finish this season. It's a great sport and will leave you with lots of good stories and memories.

Wait till his first longbeard comes in stgrutting, spitting and drumming. Gobbles at 15 yards, puts on a show and never presents a shot. You watch in awe at the event unfolding...only to realize the bird is now out of range and following real hens.:(:(:(Remember that first love that you thought you would marry and love forever and then she left you for the older guy with a car...that pain will be joyful compared to what these birds are going to do to your psyche for the rest of your life.

Thanks all.In our county(Holmes) they stopped turkey hunting for five years.Since we never had many we thought so what.Where I hunt(Sweet Gum Head-try and find that on a Florida map)it's next to Alabama.The next seasons we were over run with turkeys.Yes I've heard them spit and drum.I sat during muzzleloading season and watched 52 turkeys( I had time to count)strut and breed,I mean everything you would want to see.Wethought this is going to be easy.Thefirst season,we had three days to hunt.After the first shot they disappeared.I told my cousin we're going to have to really work and learn to call and everything.So reading here, I bought a box,slate,and two mouth calls and a decoy.The box and slate calls worked great but after the first gobble my mouth went dry and for the life of me I couldn't getmy mouth to work.How do you do that?AllI can say is I can't wait until next season.

I love turkey hunting. I enjoy it even more than deer. I think the direct interaction you get is what makes it so exciting. I'm hoping this fall I get the same attention with a nice bull in Colorado. I've never been during the rut so this year we're going at it with a bow during prime rut. Glad you've joined our TAG...Turkey's Anonymous Group.
