kansas Rio

Me and a buddy are heading to kansas to try to knock down our first rios ever. We are from kentucky and we are planning on hunting glen elder state park. just wondering if it holds several birds or if we should look to go somewhere else. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Plan on lots of company. Elder has some birds but gets hunted heavy by residents and non-residents alike that don't have private land to hunt on. I fish up there often and see birds but most are jakes. The residents that live in the area will have them patterened and be after them hot and heavy the first 2 weeks of season. After that you will have a better chance and less company.

>>>> BigPuddin;
You'll have a great time hunting spring gobblers in KS. Go to the KS wildlife and Parks website and download their "2009 Spring Turkey Hunting Atlas". This is a must for anyone trying to hunt public land in KS. TONS of free,walkin land,and if you wait untill the end of April to go,you'll rarely run into any other hunters.
If you see a flock of birds on private land,stop and ask permission. Unless someone else is hunting it right them,I've had real good luck getting access. Rarely ever get a flat out no! Best of luck to you......
