Black Hills Thunder Chickens

I'm planning on hunting out of my home state of Indiana for the first time and figured I would try the black hills. Is there anybody here that can give advice to me that is not a resident of South Dakota?

I hunted in S.D. a few years ago and it was a blast. I had seen in magazines where when the sun comes up and you can see dozens of turkeys in every tree around you. Well S.D. is like that. We hunted on the Rosebud Indian Reservation which was very nice. There are some rules as far as which outfitter you can use and the one we used SUCKED!!!! I cant remember his name but he left us high and dry on many occasions. I dont think it was a reservation thing but just an outfitter thing. There was roost trees with several inches of crap under it from all of the birds.

The reservations are a sure thing and you can buy state tags for the deadwood area as well.
