Got my first with a bow

My five-day turkey season opened in MN last Wednesday to 40+ mph winds and rain. I bit the bullet and didn' t go out. Thursday morning I got in the woods before daybreak and blew my locator call. Nothing. I proceeded to a spot I found quite a bit of sign, and set up by Double Bull blind. While I was taking off my vest, I bumped my box call. Gobble! Three toms gobbled behind me. I was getting excited now. I gave a few tree yelps, and shut up. Two of the toms seemed further off, but one seemed pretty close. A hen started to yelp, so I did some cutting and aggresive yelping. Soon I heard wing beats behind me. I had the back windows closed, so all I did was wait. A few minutes later I heard some drumming directly behind me. I got ready, and soon he strutted by the first open window. I waited, and watched through the viewing window. He then head for the decoys, and I shot him in the wing while he strutted at 3 yards. He dropped, and I jumped out of the blind. After a short chase, I had my first turkey with my bow. He weighed 22.5 pounds with a 9.75 inch beard and both spurs measured a little over an inch each.
I took my brother out that afternoon, and called in a 19.5 pound jake that he shot, and the next morning I called in a 20 pound tom for my dad. It was the best season we' ve had, and it was more special to me because I was with both my dad and brother when they shot theirs.

Hey Jeff, sounds like you have had yourself one fantastic season! Congratulations to all of you! Gotta love those blinds for turkey hunting, they' ve got to be the best thing to come along in awhile for guys like yourself who like to go after ' em with a bow. My nephew has gotten his last 2 birds from a Doghouse blind, he swears by them now! Anyway, tell your Dad and Bro. congrats also. :)

That is the same blind that I have. I love it. Those Double Bull guys have it figured out!

Congrats. I am still looking for No. 2 after I killed my 1st on Thursday.
