here's my new shotgun i bought for turkey season it's a sears and roebuck ted willams model 200 12 guage with a 3 inch chamber and a variable choke barreland i'll be hunt with winchester superX3 inch 5 shot 1 7/8 oz.

I've never hunted West Virginia terrain -- heck I've never hunted anything but Mississippi terrain -- so I can't really post an opinion for or against. I do, however, have a life-long friend who moved to west Texas many years ago. He grew up hunting here, in MS, but swears that it would be an extreme feat to call one into shotgun range where he is. Consequently, they rely more on marksmanship to take birds there. I am a traditionalist when it comes to hunting turkeys, so I call 'em close. Rifles are not allowed here, anyway.

Having said that, though, I used to shoot rifles competitively in college and can see the challenge in a hundred yard head shot on a bird that rarely stops moving. Good luck to ya, but be careful about what's beyond your target!
