What time in the morning?

Just curious what time in the morning do you plan on being in the woods listening? Seems to me, about 6am ought to be about right.

Those of you that have gotten a chance to scout this year: What time are you hearing the turkey' s first start gobbling?

Good Luck Everyone!

Some mornings they might start gobbling from their roost while it is still dark, 30-45 minutes before first light. I like to be at a high listening spot at this time.

This is a subject I' ve always found interesting. Very few people I know get out in the woods before the eastern sky starts getting light. They go tromping into the woods when it is light enough for them to see and also for the birds on the roost to see them! Then they wonder why the birds fly down and go the other way. I like to be in the woods and set up well before the first hint of light in the sky, even on a scouting trip. Slipping in under the cover of darkness has worked wonders for me over the years. The earliest I have heard them gobbling here in N. Missouri this spring is around 5:30 but it is getting lighter earlier every morning so the gobbling will start earlier every day as the season progresses.

same here. get in there before light. make the turkey gobble with an owl call, or crow call, and then you can sneak in close, get set up, and ready to start callin when it gets light. this way, you can slip within 75yds or closer to the turkey,
you need to be close when they are henned up.;)

I go in around 3:30am and to my spot by 4 or so. I like to be there before the song birds start to sing and I don' t call till the birds start singing.

When I`m scouting I try to stay out of the woods. I do most of my scouting from roads. I still like to be out by 5:30am as somedays the birds are already gobbling.

During turkey season here it gets light about 5:45 - 6:00 so I like to be out in the woods by at least 4:30.
