Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default ??Favorite style of striker tip....flared or straight??

I recently bought my first mushroom tipped striker, it is a Blodgett laminated hard maple. I really like it, easy to use and sounds great too. I have always used non flared pegs before. What is your favorite striker style, mushroomed tip or straight??

I like flared-tip strikers, bar none. Better control and they feel more natural to me.

By the way, for you Bosstom striker users, are his strikers straight or flared-tip?

Got my first flared tip this year and I like it much better. I find it easier to use (you don' t have to get the angle just right).

Still some what new to this, but what is a flared tip and a straight tip?

Most of my strikers are production types(ie: Primos and Quaker Boy) some ar flat and the wooden ones are rounded. Is that it?

You got it! Flared tips are the more rounded ones and the straight tips are the flat edged ones! Personally, I carry both for different calls... Some of my calls sound better with one or the other of the two... I find myself using the flared tips more and more though. [:-]

Well then thanks for the info, I tend to use a flared tip more, but QuakerBoy has this staight edged solid drab green plastic one that when put to a power crystal can purr just about as good as a mouth call.

Actually flared-tip strikers are shaped like a mushroom on the end. Straight strikers are just that, straight with no taper.

Well I like flared, straight and angle tip strikers. For me it really depends on the striker and the call. I really like Adrians flared tip but also several of mine and others straight tip and I always carry the H.S. Strut stinger. The angle tip is very unforgiving but it sure makes a nice two tone yelp on the right call.
