Remington duplex 4x6

I usually use #4 lead for turkey but I found some ofthe remington duplex4x6, 2 3/4"on sale and was wondering if any of you turkey hunters use them? How do they pattern and what choke you using?

I know ol BOSSTOM use to use them a few year back... I guess they would be just fine if you don't have the money to set your gun up with Hevi 13 and a IC choke:)

:DMr Longbeard , I'm younger then your arn't I [8D]

They were good shells but I did find that the Winchester HV Copper #5 and #6 seem to out pattern them with a .660 choke...

The most range I could get out of the 2.75" 4x6 load was 30 yards and not a step further. Curiously, the 2.75" shell always patterned better for me than the 3" shell did.

We found at certain ranges they did not pattern well and would blow holes in your pattern.

For instance they where okay 10 to 15 yards and then 25 to 30 yards but we had a heck of a time at 15 to 25 yards.

In fact my partner got so mad because he missed a Tom and should not have that the box now is in the bog bottom and I am sure they are still there and are free! :)

You never know until you pattern them..

Years ago, when I first bought my 11-87 SP , the best pattern I could find was with Rem 4x6 3" duplex, with the extended "turkey full" choke that came with the gun...It was barely adequate at 40 yards, but I killed a few gobblers with it..

I eventually bought a Kick's Gobblin' Thunder .665 that patterned much better with other loads..

Patterna few of the duplex..They may work fine, but I suspect that in a 2 3/4 gun your max sure kill range will be less than 40 yards...Not a big deal unless you are into shooting turkeys at extended ranges..
