Question about Shotgun

Ok so.. I have to take my hunter safety education course in February so i can purchase my licenses as i turn 16 next week. I was planning on purchasing a Remington Super Mag Waterfowl 12 gauge sometime time in the next few months as where i live on this island we only have duck hunting. but i will be staying with family and doing some upland hunting also.. here is the gun.

Now.. my question is is there anyway that i can use this shotgun for turkey hunting since i wont be able to pay for another shotgun at the moment? if so how?

RE: Question about Shotgun

You can easily make that shotgun a turkey killer. Either use the factory full choke with some decent turkey loads, or if you want better patterns and more killing distance there are several very good aftermarket turkey choke tubes you can buy. Justshoot afew different turkey loads throughwhichever choke you decide on to see which throws the best pattern. Some, including myself, prefer a shorter barrel for turkey hunting, like a 26 inch, but thats just because it makes the gun easier to move into position. For duck hunting you'll want that longer barrel, and it won't pose too much of a problem in the turkey woods. Good luck.

It will definitely work, just take the time to pattern it with the turkey load you will be using. If you are wanting it to pattern a little farther out you might want to look into get a set of sights for it though.

RE: Question about Shotgun

I have the same gun. Get an extra full choke like a truglo, undertaker, or the factory choke and pattern some 3 inch #5 and #6 rem, federal, and winchester lead loads and you will be good to go. Note: "You don't have to spend a fortune on chokes and ammo to get a turkey!"
