Deep Snow Birds?

As I was up in the Adirondacks this past weekend shoveling 20+" of powder snow I got to thinking, What the hell do turkeys do in snow that deep? How do they push those fat rear ends around in the deep stuff.

RE: Deep Snow Birds?

Last year we had snow like that around here. The turkeys spent a lot of time in trees. They also flew farther when they got down. When they moved, they'd follow deer trails or frozen creeks or anything that allowed them to move. They had a tough time, we lost some birds.

I believe the worst thing for them is long periods of soft deep snow (they can't walk around on it). Deep snow is ok if the top firms up due to sun or wind
