Killed my first bunch of birds with a youth 870, factory full choke and winchester supreme #6s. Not fancy by any means but a bird at 30-35 yards was in a lot of trouble haha.

The choke I've got on my gun says for lead only though....so what are my best shot options?

I have had good results using a .550 choke out to 30 yards with Winchester Supreme Double X 3" 1-1/4oz #5's.

I'll have to check when I get home but I think the choke that I have pictured above is tighter than .550.

That could hurt more than help, correct?

It is possible that you can over choke causing a "blown" pattern, but I would give it a try either way. I have found that a lot of lead loads like to be choked pretty tight, definitely more so than the heavier than lead loads.

ORIGINAL: rochelle

Any suggestions on a choke and load combo suggestions for a 20g mossberg 500?
I use two combinations............

Swarm™ .555" Choke
w/Winchester® Supreme™ High Velocity 3" 1 5/16oz #5 Shot (Lead -
STH2035)

or

Hastings® Extended Turkey Choke .570"
w/Hevi13™ 1¼oz #6 shot (Hevi - BC# 16383 01306)

You cant beat straight nitro 7's and a 555 indian creek choke you should get around 200 hits in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards.
