What's a good attractant for turkeys?

I'm not talking about baiting as I wouldn't use anything during the actual hunt. I'm looking for something I can spread around parts of my lease to help attract and hold turkeys in that general area. What kind of feed usually works for this?

i dont know if im spelling this correctly but "choofa" works very well for turkeys. they absolutely go nuts over this stuff. it is not cheap , but it is well worth it if you love to turkey hunt.

If you are looking for Habitat improvement on your hunting property for turkeys - go search the National Wild Turkey Federation web-site as they have tipes and tricks to help you.

You may even get a chance to get help from them - who knows?

If you are talking about just spreading out something to feed the turkeys, then corn and wheat will do fine. I usually put a corn-wheat mix in a feeder until three weeks before the opener. This is just to give them a little something extra to eat during the winter. If you are going to plant something, then chufa probably would be the best option, but like krabbie said, it aint cheap.

I'd work on improving the overall habitat, rather than just looking for a quick fix in a bag.

I find the turkeys where they are in the wild, on there terms not over bait.
I understand the laws are different from state to state but where is the sport in bait hunting? I rather hunt and come home empty handed but with good memories.

I AM NOT SAYING YOU ARE BAIT HUNTING. just thinking out load.
