What have you found to the most effective method to cover-up a blued/wood shotgun?
Paint? No-mar Tape? Heat-Shrink sheets? |

RE: gun camo
I painted my BPS myslef, most say it looks pretty good.If you don't wast to put paint on it,they have several gun socks, and no mar tape.
each to his own preference. I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry. |
RE: gun camo
Hey BOSSTOM,
What does he charge for say a Rem 870. I painted mine myself and it looks good, but I may have it dipped this summer. Thanks Bill |
RE: gun camo
I had mine painted. Even though it looks pretty good, I've come to the point of not liking it. Bought some stripper the other day to take it back down to the parkerizing.
My advice is: Do something else but don't paint 'em. Romans 8:28 |
RE: gun camo
I use the tape.Put it on right before season and take it off when I'm done hunting for the year.

RE: gun camo
Camo Clad
If you're looking for something that's removable it's better than any tape or sock I've used... |
RE: gun camo
I would look at CAMO CLAD also It's been on my gun 3year now and i tend to abuse my gun during duck season and it's held up the best.At the price of $20 bucks you really can't beat it.

RE: gun camo
Last spring I wrapped my gun with No-Mar tape, and had no problems with it. I just recovered my gun last weekend with it.

RE: gun camo
Thanks for the responses guys.
I would like to stay away from painting it, and the socks seem to bulky, so i'm really looking at the tape and CAMO CLAD. And anyways, i've got a few months. Thanks for the link proturkeycaller |
RE: gun camo
I use camoclad but next year I'm getting mine dipped check out http://www.gandermountain.com/tabs/g...mfinishes.html

RE: gun camo
The entire gun really doesn't need to be taped. Just the barrel, part of the receiver, and part of the forearm. Just put on some strips here and there to break it up.

RE: gun camo
I've got a friend that has a zip on cover that looks great. His gun is several years old but it looks new. I had one dipped
( 150.00 ) I got some bug spray on it and it melted the dip off on the grip and fore arm in places so now it looks realy bad. The dipped camo is oil based so its not like cooked on. There is a co. that bakes it on. I've been to it on the web. it cost alot. the birds don't care !!!! |
RE: gun camo
I have a good friend of mine that paints cars and he blow brushes an exterior paint on my gun about every 3 years.Doesn't cost me a dime and looks as good as any factory paint job you'll ever see!
