Home from Texas

Texas as your hearing was pretty special this year. The six of us killed 12 birds in 2 days. The truth is that we probably could have killed 100. The birds came to us in big groups of 3 to 6 and we were only allowed 2 birds a piece. They were everywhere!

Ryan (2 birds)
18 lbs, 8 1/2 inch beard, 1 1/8 inch spurs
17.4 lbs, 9 1/4 inch beard, 1 inch spurs

You won' t recognize the names, but these are the other guys.

Lucas (2 birds) (Called his first in on his own that had 7 beards)
15 lbs, 8 1/4 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs
20 lbs, 9 1/4, 1 1/2, 2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 2 1/4, 2 1/2 inch beards, 1 inch spurs

Carlos (3 birds) (Killed 2 w/ 1 shot on last bird) (1st Rio)
15 lbs, 7 1/2 inch beard, 1 inch spurs
15.5 lbs, 9 inch beard, 1 1/16 inch spurs
17.4 lbs, 8 1/2 inch beard, 1 inch spurs

Dad (2 birds) (1 miss) (1st Rio)
20.2 lbs, 8 1/2 inch beard, 7/8 inch spurs
17.3 lbs, 10 inch beard, 7/8 inch spurs

Mike (2 birds)(1st turkey ever)
14.6 lbs, 8 1/2 inch beard, 1 inch spurs
21.3 lbs, 9 inch beard, 1 inch spurs

Mikie (1 bird) (1 miss)(1st Rio)
20.8 lbs, 8 1/2 inch beard, 7/8 inch spurs

I managed to call in 8 kills, and 1 miss on the trip. Please forgive me if my math is off I did this on the flight home, but my totals said we had 221.4 lbs of turkey, 9.6 feet of beards, and 25.4 inches of spurs.

Wow, that' s one heck of a hunt. Do you mind divulging who you hunted with? If you don' t want to announce it on the board, can you email me at [email protected]? Thanks

That picture is incredible. If there was ever such a thing as a mess of turkeys, that' s it right there. Congrats to all!

Wow! Sounds like you had a blast. Just curious though.
What did the outfitters say about Carlos' s third bird since they only allowed you two. Can you give some information on the outfitter and your overall rating of their service? Im thinking about heading out there next year.
Congrats on a good hunt. Great looking birds.

Congratulations. Between Texas and Hawaii you are making it look pretty easy.

Buckeye Mike,

In Texas and Hawaii it is pretty easy. :)

If anyone wants to know more about the outfitter just e-mail at [email protected]. The outfitter allows other birds for $350 a pop. I just didn' t want to pay that, nor did the guy that killed the other bird. But accidents occaisionally happen.
