Base of the neck

I'd go with full if that's all you have. I use an extra full turkey choke, but they're pretty expensive. Full will get the job done, that's for sure.

Yep. You need to find what patterns best out of your gun/choke combination, but I use 3" Hevi-Shot #5's.

Hell no. I personally think that ascope on a turkey gun is a waste of money.

I agree with Rory on all of it, but to show that you dont need the expensive rounds ill just point out that my normal round for turkey are Federal #4 or #5, i use a Extra-Full turkey choke, but my mom uses a full and kills alot of birds with it, and depending on the range is where you aim, i aim for the center-neck at the closer ranges, ect.

I aim for where the neck meets the body (where the feathers start)

2. what kind of choke i have a modified and a full and 1 other kind i think i have the modified on at the moment so i was wondering if you could tell the best one?
You should try different loads (different size pellets, 4, 5, 6) 3" and 3.5" and different choke combos to see what gives you a tight even pattern consistently out to 40 yards. Not all after market chokes are very expensive, but some are. Every gun shoots different, you'll have to see what yours likes.

3. are there different kinds of turkey loads if so what is your recommended type? I like Hevi Shot (Hevi-13s in 3.5" #6 2.25 oz is what patterns best in my gun so far.)

4. i dont NEED a scope do i?
You don't need a scope, but you should probably have some kind of open fiber optic sights or a scope. When those patterns get tight, it helps you hit where you're aiming. Better open sights than a bead, but to each his own.

1. Base of the neck

2. Generally speaking the tighter the choke the better the pattern at longer ranges.......but that is not always true. Let me know what kind of gun you have and I will let you know what choke/load combo I have achieved good results with.

3. There are many different turkey loads...are you planning on using lead or heavier than lead?

4. You do not need a scope...personally I prefer one if for nothing else than the clear sight picture.

RE: turkey questions

To answer the question on paterning you gun. You must pick a shell and shoot at a target that has the turkey head and neck on it. Count the pellets in the head and neck area and see if there are any open spots in the pattern.(big openings where there are no bb's) Start at twenty yards and work out to whatever gives you a good number of bb's in the kill area. That will be your limit. Most guns can pattern out to almost forty yards. I prefer to get them inside of thirty.

You must try different loads and shot sizes. Try to find a buddy to share some shells with. That way it is not so expensive. Mark each target with the shell used and yardages. Good luck.

RE: turkey questions

If you only have a full choke. Then I would recomend trying the Fed HD with flight control wad... They pattern pretty good out of my Rem 870 with the factory full choke out to 40 yards... There pretty pricy...

This forum should really help you out...
