This may have been asked before, but.....
Does wet weather affect a turkey' s schedule? I' ve seen' em grazing in very light rain. I' m wondering about heavy thundershowers. It' s kinda wet in AL now, and I' m headed out tomorrow to try and harvest my first Eastern (and raise Team 6' s average).

I see turkeys in open fields alot during the rain. Reason being is the rain makes it difficult for them to hear in the woods with the added nose of rain hitting the tree' s, leaves, forest floor. Also the darker skys makes the woods darker, so they don' t see quite as well either. So they often hit the open fields for better protection. On thunderstorms its pretty much the samething. But I can tell you on night time Thundersotrms I' ve seen toms stick in the same roost through some amazing weather. I roosted a tom one evening. That night I counted 7 different thunderstorms throughout the night. I hardly slept. These storms all brought different varieties, from heavy winds, hard rains, viscious thunder & lightning, to hail. I thought no way will that tom be in the same tree come daylight. Well sure enough he was!

Hey JoeA the other weekend I saw 3 long beards in a open grass field while it was a steady rain..I think they come out in fields because its open and they can see danger..:D

I' ve heard the same things. It can also keep them on the roost longer. A couple of years ago we had one stay on the roost and hour and a half longer than normal.

they will hit the open areas in a light rain, but durin a down pour, I think they hit the thickets.
I know for a fact these south Ar turkeys will not gobble and most of the time will not come to you when it' s cold, cloudy, and windy, or when it' s overly hot and humid. so I' d say yep, weather plays a big part in the actions of a turkey.:D
