My first turkey
This was taken on thanksgiving day...our last day until spring.
this was my very first turkey
Spurs were 1"
Beard measured 11 and 1/4 inches..
the beard has a crinkle in it..straightened out, right at 11 1/4 to the logest hair

RE: My first turkey
hey thanks guys...yeah the beard was pretty big for that bird...I expected the spurs to be a bit bigger...but I am satisified for my first bird...have not ate the meat yet...
I breasted him out, and also took the legs out...and washed them all off and froze it for right now..
I can't wait to try it!!! I've never tasted wild turkey
Can you guys direct me to any recipies on how to cook it? I dont want any extravagant spicey stuff...just a normal cooking method?
Thanks guys...
I've been seeing turkey in my woods just about every time I go deer hunting now...I sure hope they stick around!
We've never seen so many in these woods...So I've bought a turkey call in the mean time (I had a box call)
and trying to learn to use it , for spring...I also picked up and owl call...

RE: My first turkey
Great job! Congrats on a fine bird!
As far as a recipe, I always cut the breast up in some smaller pieces and let it marinate in Dale's Seasoning. You can get it in Wal-Mart. After it's marinated for a while, it's ready to grill.
