Mild winter false spring??
 

Were having a mild winter so far here in ILL. do you think if this continues we could have birds gobblin early this what do you all think

Good question, they just might!!! But I still think it's the amount of daylight that hit's the gland in the hens eye that sets her biological clock ticking!! Those old gobblers are willing and able, but those dang hens are what starts the game!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

This is my opinion Guys ,, The day light hours start to increase in the yearly spring and triggers a Chemical imbalence in the Gobblers that in turns, triggers the testosterone levels of the gobbler , this makes the birds want to Gobble to attract hens. The light hours with the gobbling of Toms set the hens too ready <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>...BT

Commercial poultry farmers have known for years that its the amount of daylight that triggers reproduction. Hence all the lights in poultry house during winter time.Wether theres 30 degree temps or typical spring temps come March theres enough daylight for our birds to disperse and start breeding.
