Well i just got back from the Mountains. I went to a spot that i thought for sure i would hear some birds. Didn' t hear S!@#. Left there and wentr back to my brothers cabin to pattern my new Nitro loads and my new Rem 10ga Hevi Shot loads.

I shot the Nitro Hevi Shot first at 40 yards. That suff must not like the tru glo choke i have because it patterned like $#@!. I guess your screwed with those loads unless you buy the Rhino choke too...

I then shot my 10ga with the new Rem 10ga Hevi Shot loads and they shot pretty good. I got around 12-15 hits in the vitals and was pretty happy with them.

I really think unless i can get pattern results as good as Maytom and the others that have tryed Nitro. I will just stick with my Winchester HV loads....

That is the reason I have' nt made the switch.I can' t see buying a new choke and a box of shells when the winchesters do the job.I did try the remington hevi-shot last year but I could' nt get as good of a pattern as I get with winchester#6.

Ken, sorry to hear that your not happy with the results of the patterning session. I' m not sure what size choke restriction of a Rhino choke they suggest for a 10 gauge? Stick with your regular loads and choke untill you talk to Ray about which tube to try for your SP-10!! For some reason, those Nitro loads love those Rhino chokes!!

When pattern testing those Remington hevishot loads last spring out of my TRu-Glo choke tube, they actually shot a tighter pattern than with the Winchester HV' s!! Every gun is different, what shoots best out of one, might not out of another.

At the suggestion of a few friends and people talking about them here I bought
some Winchester HV # 4' s and shot them this morning after work. All I could
say as I walked up to my paper target was WOW. At 40 yards I had a cluster
of pellets inside a 10 circle. My gun and choke really like those shells. After loading
my stuff and dog back in the truck I drove down the road 100 or so yards and
8 hens surprized me my crossing the road followed by a nice gobbler with a
8 to 10 inch thick beard. Man, it was a beautiful morning!!!

The MAIN reason I went to Nitro ammo is because I GOT FED UP with all the big 3 changing their load recipes every 2 or 3 years. [:@] For a few years, Federal shot best, then they changed SOMETHING WITHOUT TELLING US, [:@] then Winchester shot best for a few years, then they changed SOMETHING WITHOUT TELLING US, then I was back to Federal again, and well you get the picture. All these unannounced changes, and their resulting change in pattern density resulted in causing me to lose turkeys. I finally got fed up with that crap 2 years ago and spent WAY TOO MUCH money finding the right Nitro load for all 3 of our turkey guns. With Nitro stuff, if you order a 510A 4x5 nickel load, you get the SAME THING you got last time, no surprises. That was the selling factor for me.

Dsheally, could you go into some detail about your setup? Gun, choke, was it the 3 inch shell or the 3 1/2? Thanks

I' m thinking about taking the " Nitro plunge" next winter. A new Rhino choke and new shells isn' t exactly in the budget for this year. Heck, it' s too late anyway!

The Nitros with a Rem. Ventilator works great for me, I always shot Winchester #5' s or 6' s and was pleased with their results, but this Nitro load out does them pretty bad, I guess you could say that my search for a good tight shooting load is over for now.
