Scratch Boxes

Does anyone use a scratch box? If so which one do you use. I like Tom Gaskin' s scratch box. Also does anyone have plans or something on how to build one?
Thanks

I like them as a " secret weapon" . They have a different sound, I think, and besides, I got my first bird with one, so I' m biased. :)

I have a cedar one by Richard Shively and really like it. Last year was my first year using it/one and it did well. I have said it before and will say it again, I still can' t belive this little two ounce box can sing so loud and pretty. Here' s his link in case your interested.....

He also has them in Walnut and cherry and also has sound files so that you can hear the differnce in the three.

they do have a sweet sound. I have one I have used for the last 30 years. now I make them as a hobby to give to the kids that turkey hunt.
they are easy to make, you just have to have a few tools and a little patiance.

My F-I-L made me one about 15 years ago, and I always keep it in my vest. it' s made out of cedar. box, and stick both. they make some of the best yelps and clucks than any other friction call.
