NC Turkey Hunters

I am just curious as to what regions of the state NC turkey hunters hunt. I plan on going to Three Top Mountain Game Land or Elk Knob. Have any of you hunted there or in the north western part of the state? If so, how busy are the public game lands? This is my first turkey hunt and I want to be prepared. I went scouting yesterday and nearly stepped on a small hen near the trail! Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you.

I am senior at ASU graduating this May. I see turkeys a lot around the parkway and Price Park. When I went scouting the other day a hen flew up on the trail about 10 yards in front of me. I think there are plenty of birds, but I am worried that on public land there will be plenty of hunters too.

>>>> Just get off the beaten track. Most "hunters" will never get more than a half mile from the road. If you get way back into some of the public areas, you'll probably have the whole place to yourself. Hey,you should get my son to go out scouting with you. He lives in the apartments across the street from Bojangles. See ya.
