Benelli Nova/Indian Creek
 

I had a chance topattern my Benelli Nova 12ga 28" barrel today with an Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike .665 and Hevi-13 3" 2 oz #6.
I put a 4" paint dot on a sheet of cardboard (different cardboard for each shot), sighted down the rib and put the red bead on the paint dot.
At 40 yards the center of the pattern was about 8" high and centered. At 50 yards the center of the pattern was about 10" high and a couple inches to the right.
Has anyone experienced this with Indian Creek choke tubes?

It is not the choke at this point the your point of aim. To correct this I suggest a set of Tru-Glo clamp sights that allow for windage and elevation. That will help dial in the fact you are high. Do not buy the magnetic kind as they will be lost at some point in time by falling off from brush.

Or if your Benelli came with the stock bushingsyou can change the comb to help dial it back in with that but I still strongly suggest the Tru-Glo sights with this too.

When I tried the Nova/IC/HV combo I got terrible results. They pattern was all over the place at 30 yards. It was an expensive test using the HV, but I will never try that shell again.

Get a set of adjustable sights and your problem will be solved. I put a TruGlo Red dot on mine and it works great.

titleist 03; By any chance were you testing the Hevi-13 1 5/8oz load?

Yeah I was. I've read that it is trash. Is the 2oz. available anywhere now?

The loads you need are the 3" 2.0 .oz or the 3.5 2.25 .oz load. Heres some patterns from my SuperNova with 3.5 2.25 .oz loads #5, #6
Thru an Indian Creek choke @ 38yds. I have the 24"bbl..

titleist; The 2oz load is available, and it can be a fantastic load for your Nova. During my testing of the load I was able to consistantly get 170 or more pellets in a 10in circle at 40 yards with a 24" barrel. The only modification that I made was polishing the barrel.

Constriction of the choke is very important with the load you plan on using. Indian Creek is one of the Top chokes on the market but the right size with the right load will change everything...
