New Gun! Suggestions on Shot/Choke Combo wanted.
 

Hi all. I just bought a new benelli nova. I haven' t turkey hunted in several years, and never really took it all that seriously when I did in the past. But for some reason an the urge hit me the other day, and I went out and bought my new turkey gun. It' s a 12 gauge, 24' ' barrel, with 3.5 inch chamber. I haven' t shot it yet, and I' m looking for suggestions on chokes and loads, especially from those that own this gun. I' ve got the three standard factory chokes, but I' m not sure whether or not they will do the job. I' d like to be able to reach out and touch something at 40-45 yds, but a consistant pattern is my goal.

I have the same set up and I found that the TruGlo Strut Stopper with 3.5 inch Winchester #5 (2.25 oz load NOT THE 2 oz HIGH VELOCITY) works best for me. Everyone is different but hopefully this will save you a few dollars and some shoulder bruises.

I' ve got that gun, too. It does a number on geese. Haven' t been able to get out and pattern for turkey yet. Gonna try to do that this Sauturday.

I don' t hold out much hope for the factory tubes with lead but am hoping the Hevishot will be a dramatic improvement.

Sure wish WalMart would carry Benelli tubes.

Anyway, I' ll let you know how it goes after Saturday. Thanks for the input there, Buckeye. I' ll keep that in mind.
