Winchester vs. Nitro results.
 

Both were shot at 40 yards with a Rem. Super Mag 23" barrel and .660 Ventilator choke. The Win. was a 2 1/4oz #5, the Nitro was a 2 1/4oz 4x5x7. the first picture is the Win.

I thought the Remington Ventilator choke was a .655? From what i' ve read at Remingtons web sight they saids that the Ventilator choke did not pattern well with there Hevi Shot..

It may be a .655, the mike I used actually called it in between .655 and .660. I was surprised to see this big of difference. I had these papers taped to a large piece of cardboard, you can really tell the difference when you look at the backside of the cardboard The Nitro pattern was a whole lot tighter.

You should give the Rhino choke a try for the Nitro ammo. I was really amazed at what it did out of my 3.5" Browning BPS.

Yeah the Rhino is the choke Nitro recommends , I talked to them and they thought the Ventilator would do a pretty good job, And I better quit here, the wife don' t know what these Nitro shells cost yet and to add a Rhino choke might be kind of asking for it LOL.

Strut, check out the post What' s your favorite turkey choke tube? and go down to the post by Tomahog. He has used the Rhino choke and Nitro ammo. He apparently likes it a whole bunch! :)

That' s what I bought a few weeks ago, a box of Nitro hevishot turkey loads and a Rhino choke tube as well. Problem is that the dam weather here in NY isn' t helping for pattern testing!! As soon as it does, I' ll be sure to post a pic or two!!:)

Very impressive 40 yard group! I have the same gun and just ordered some nitro' s
for it. Is the ventilator choke designed to shoot hevishot? I only have the Rem.
factory chokes for my gun and the tightest one measures .662 and say' s lead
shot only. Don' t know if the #7 Hevi shot would hurt it or not by shooting the
4x5x7' s through it. Mr. Logbeard, have you tried your Nitro' s yet?

ds, they assured me at Nitro that their ammo would' nt hurt my choke or barrel in any way. The shot is coated to prevent damage to where I think the Remington hevi-shot is not. I shot the extra full choke the first year I had my gun and bought the Ventilator the second year, I compared the 2 with the same loads and the same distance and could' nt believe the difference the Ventilator made. You will like it in your Rem. Super Mag.

Nitro says that their ammo should put between 230 and 270 shot in a 10" circle at 40 yards, I bet they will come mighty close. I counted the shot in the top picture from the winchester and got somewhere around 115, I did' nt even try to count the Nitro.

I patterned my Nitro loads last year and got 367 pellets in a 12 " circle and 293 in a 10" circle @ 40 yards. Some people don' t believe it but I had 3 eye witnesses that observed it first hand. They immediately went to the phone and called Nitro and ordered some too!!

Browning BPS 12 ga., 3.5" ,28" barrel, Rhino .660 choke, 2&5/8 ounce #4x5x7 economy hevishot load.

I counted these today in my spare time and the Winchester put 110 shot and the Nitro put 243.

I havent patterned mine yet. I will be trying the last week end in March. Scouting/patterning weekend... I' ll be sure and let every one know how they do!!!!
